The Gift of the Maji (Uzelac Style)

It was Christmas 2006 and Ryan was so excited to give me my Christmas present. He had saved and saved, and was sure that he'd picked out just the right present to make my eyes light up on Christmas day. I came out on Christmas morning to find a beautiful brand new pair of skis, boots, bindings and even a matching parka. I was to be the girl on the mountain who was the envy of all of the skiers, being the ultimate coordinating snow bunny (you know the type). Little did Ryan know that his gift would be met with a heartbroken sigh. After much inquiring as to why the gift recieved that reaction I told him that my big present to him was that I had just found out that I was pregnant with Connor. This meant that I would be doing absolutely no skiing or anything else extreme, like fitting into a size medium parka, for 9 months. he he he. The beautiful skis sat in my closet sad, lonely, and gathering dust for a year and finally the other day Ryan and I took a day off of our lives and headed up to Deer Valley to make up for lost time. Kaylie and Connor hung out with their two grandmas' all day and to be honest with you it was a little weird not having worry about anything but having fun...and not killing myself on the slopes. I haven't been skiing since High School. This time the gift was met with a different kind of sigh. One of pure exhilaration and joy! We had the best time ever!

Connor's Blessing Day

We blessed Connor this Sunday. It was the best day. Here are just a few pics to show you how much fun we had. I really should also take the opportunity to give my wonderful mom a shout out! She, as always, went above and beyond to make sure that everyone was well fed and taken care of. What an amazing family I have. I am so grateful for the life I have been given and the blessings that are mine.

Ok this is my favorite picture ever!

Kaylie's Big Date

Uncle Jared and Auntie Kaylani took Kaylie and Maleah on a Christmas date to the Discovery Museum at the gateway, and to dinner. She was so excited to go that she packed up her beautiful purse with her cell phone, a few treats, and of coarse some lip gloss. We love Jared and K so much for making Kaylie feel so important! They will make the best parents (hopefully sooner than later!)

How much is that Doggie in the Window...(Free as it turns out)

We got a new puppy this week. Maximus Uzelaculous (he's Greek!). Max is a mix of a Red Healer, Rottweiler, and Pointer. Our little Max is as cute as a button, and smart as a whip. Ryan is so excited to have someone in our family who is as excited to kill rabbits and small birds as he is.

This Year I'm Thankful For...

The great blessing of being a wife and mother.

A husband who not only gives piggie backs to bed, but looks damn good doing it.

A daughter who, every day reminds me to laugh, and have fun, and not take life too seriously.

A son who reminds me that there are things in this world that are unbelievably beautiful and innocent.

Brothers and Sisters who I'd choose to hang out with.

Grandmas and Grandpas that love my kids no matter what!

Wonderful Women who keep my life interesting.

Sisters... Who could ask for better, more beautiful, more stylish sisters.

GQ brothers

Four hilarious people who, against all odds are in our family.

and so so so so so much more.

This year we went to the cabin for thanksgiving. For the first time in a long time we were all together (which in and of itself was enough to give thanks for). We also had some fun announcements: our crazy cousins RyAnn and Todd are pregnant after only knowing each other for like 6 months. I love it! If anyone can do it it's them. RyAnn and Todd are so perfectly matched that they will be the best parents to this little baby, and we are so so so excited to get our tiny Edwards here! The other great news is that my cute little sister Ali is going to be able to get her licence, which is a miracle. If you don't know the story, Ali was diagnosed with Star Gaurdts (a form of incurable macular degeneration) a few years ago. Ali is now 17 and has been so sad that she wouldn't drive like her friends and Tyson. Last week she went into the doctor and for no apparent reason Ali has stumped the medical establishment as her eye sight has improved to the point that she can now get a drivers licence. We are so thankful for our many many blessings. Ryan and I and our family are so blessed.
I personally would like to say how thankful I am for two beautiful healthy kids who are the most precious gifts anyone could ever receive, and a man who i am still head over heals in love with. Ryan takes such good care of our family emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Most importantly though we are having so much fun being a family. Sometimes I stop and look at my life and can't believe how unbelievably lucky I am.

Let's Hear It For The Boy!

We are just so in love with our new baby Connor. I thought I'd just blog a few pictures so that you can see how perfect he is. Also here's a funny comparison to those of you who don't understand the full extent of Connor's resemblance to Ryan and Grandpa Boyd. Man those Uzelac genes make some good looking men.

......Ryan............... Connor.............. Boyd ....

The Great Hunt

Last night I sent Ryan out to our garage to get me a treat from the freezer. When he returned I not only saw that he'd forgotten my treat (which in and of itself was disturbing) , but more disturbing still he had a newly acquired fire in his eyes: the fire of the hunt. Ryan had seen a mouse. It is at these moments in my life when I realize that my mostly modern man has a raging caveman hunter inside. Nothing else mattered but the extermination of this vermon, this beast who dared enter his garage...his cave. I am ashamed to think that I doubted his swift victory in this conquest; and swift it was. Within minutes Ryan and his hunting comrad Jake had rushed out to the store to aquire proper equipment for the great hunt, baited traps with cusine irresistable to a mouse, and set them in what turned out to be the mouse's main thurofair. Then they waited. When, two minutes later, the wait became too much for them to bare, they threw open the door and flipped on the switch, "Aaaah Haaaaa". Knowing in their hearts that victory was theirs, their eyes darted to their snares. Empty. The mouse spotted them and did some darting of his own. This went on several times. Soon they had discovered that it was the flipping of the light and the boisterous "Aaaaah Haaaaa" that was hindering the capture. They wisely turned to creaking the door ever so quietly, edging a dim flashlight out and if empty returning into the house without a sound. A minute went by...two...five...ten. The doubt crept into me. Then....SNAP! The sheer glee on my caveman hunter's face as he realized that he had defeated his enemy, that he had thwarted the beast's hostile takeover of our peaceful home was indescribable. What a man...What a mighty good man!

Pirated Pensance

Ryan and I went with Ryann and Todd to Casey Payne's preformance of "Pirated Pensance"! What a show! I've never seen anything like that come out of a high school. Casey was, as usual, the most beautiful and hosted the majority of the play's talent! We had a great time. As you can see from the pictures (mainly the one entitled "Ryann's pet pig") we were looking lovely too! Todd (and the happy stranger behind him) had a particularly good time and was at the edge of his seat the entire time.

Ratatouille anyone?

We've discovered that we have our very own "little chef". Kaylie got Ratatouille this week and needless to say, she is obsessed. Wearing her chef's hat, and apron all of the time. I love having a two year old.

Happy 3rd Anniversary us!

Well we made it three years, and sure enough i still think Ryan is a Super hero; even though most times I give him a hard time. Our buddies Ashley and Jake donated their valuable babysitting services so that we could go out. We went to my new favorite restaurant, The Dodo, then to the arcade where we laughed ourselves sick, and finally off to the movies. We saw Bee movie. Cute Jerry Seinfeld. It left me feeling like I wanted to "bee" all over my "honey". So we came home to a quiet house (good job jake and ash) and enjoyed the remaining hour of our anniversary.

Look Mom I'm Blogging!!!

And when I say Mom...what I mean is Tiana. Well here we are blogging. I guess that since I am a blog virgin, I should start by introducing us. We are the Uzelac family (Ryan, Tia, Kaylie, and Connor). We became a family a few years ago on November 4th. In those short three years we've gone for the"shock and awe" start to a life together. (Getting Married, moving three times, buying a house, having a honeymoon baby (Kaylie), in and out of 3 jobs for me and 2 for ry, and another baby (Connor).) Woo I get tired just writing it. Suprisingly enough we still really like eachother most days and would choose it all over again. Ryan is my best freind and eternal sweetheart. Kaylie and Connor are everything that you could want in two kids; sweet, devistatingly good looking, well behaved, funny funny funny, and most importantly...ours. We are so happy anbd so blessed. I hope you like getting to know us a bit better.
